Intro to Revelation | Revelation 1

Sermon Discussion | Revelation 1

  1. As we start our study in the book of Revelation, it might be a good idea to share how members of your RC think/relate to the book. What are your initial thoughts of the book of Revelation, what comes to mind? If you grew up around church, how was this book described or experienced? Does reading Revelation invoke hope?...why or why not?

  2. An important question we need to keep in front of us as we move forward is, what is Revelation trying to do? What is really going on in the world? Where is the world really headed? The Book of Revelation is God saying, “There is more going on than meets the eye. I AM the authoritative interpreter and evaluator of history.” Read together Rev 1:4-8 and Rev 21:1-7 - reflect on how these passages relate to one another and the questions above.

  3. Here is a link to watch the Bible Project's video on Revelation, I think you'll find it helpful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nvVVcYD-0w

*Weekly Practice* One of the major themes of Revelation is an unveiling or revealing of what is actually true in the world despite what we see around us; Jesus is the Christ and is making all things new. Take time this week to evaluate the culture around you - where do you see creation being restored? Pray for the area's that you desire restoration to come.
